　　罗恩·威廉森1953年生于俄克拉荷马州埃达镇，当他因棒球事业受挫而不得不回到家乡后，他的人生从此坠入深渊。1982年，一名年轻女孩遇害，这起恶性案件在当地引起了极高的关注。在缺少证据的情况下，检察官和警方联手将威廉森定罪，他在死囚区惊恐地等待着自己的命运，他被夺走了一切，仅存的是家人的支持以及无法证实的真相：他是无辜的。

　　该剧改编自Gary L. Stewart撰写的同名畅销书，Stewart本人在寻找遗弃了自己的父亲时发现，他的父亲很可能就是逍遥法外、臭名昭著的连环杀手“十二宫杀手”。
