克里斯七岁生日当天，母亲离家出走，父亲声称母亲被外星人绑架。克里斯想拍摄一部纪录片证明没有外星人绑架事件，只不过是人们的虚假记忆而已。克里斯参加了一个讨论会想要进一步去了解所谓的“外星人”。他在采访时认识了艾米丽，一个每七年就被外星人绑架一次的女孩，克里斯不相信艾米丽的故事，直到一个晚上他和布伦特驱车回家时，在路上遇到无法解释的事情，他们的车停在原地两小时，而他们却对这段记忆一无所知。那时开始，克里斯开始对这件事产生了疑惑的态度，他开始思考这一切并没有那么简单，关于母亲，关于自己。他开始慢慢靠近真相。
科学万能の現代、だが未だ地球上には解明できぬ謎が残されている……。東北地方に、婆羅陀魏山神という神をまつる村があった。訪れた調査隊はそこで生ける神・バラダキを目撃する。それは湖に棲息する中生代の恐竜・バランであった。急遽出動した自衛隊の攻撃を逃れ、バランは空へと舞い上がる。やがて姿を現したバランは、浦賀水道から東京上陸を狙う。３６ミリ機関砲さえ跳ね返すバランに対し、自衛隊はダイナマイトの２０倍もの威力を誇る特殊火薬をもって対抗するが……。ミニチュアワークは相変わらず冴えているが、“未知の謎”を主題にしているわりにはストーリーが平板。冒頭からバランの全身を出し、その破壊力の描写に終始している感がある。資料によっては「東洋の怪物」のサブタイトルも見受けられるが、フィルム・クレジット上には存在しない。
