　　Written by Michael Hirst, this series is an epic romantic adventure based on the life of famous American outlaw Billy the Kid, also known as William H. Bonney — from his humble Irish roots, to his early days as a cowboy and gunslinger in the American frontier, to his pivotal role in the Lincoln County War and beyond.

　　NBC过去拿下电影《绝地战警2 Bad Boys II》角色Sydney “Syd” Burnett的个人衍生剧试映集《洛城战警 L.A.’s Finest》，但该项目最终没被预订。但是经过制片公司Sony Pictures电视部门的销售后，《洛城战警》以13集首季被有线台Spectrum收归旗下，预定美国时间5月13日首播。
　　在《绝地战警2》中饰演Syd一角的演员是Gabrielle Union，剧集版将由她继续演出。她是Marcus Burnett（Martin Lawrence饰）的妹妹，亦是美国缉毒局的卧底探员。另外在片中，Sydney与Mike Lowrey（Will Smith饰）是情侣。
　　《洛城战警》里Syd成了洛杉矶警局的警探，原本可以扔下过去，享受生活的她却可能因为新拍档Nancy McKenna而令事情变得复杂。在2000-02年主演过《末世黑天使 Dark Angel》的Jessica Alba将饰演Nancy McKenna，Nancy高中后参加了陆军，在伊拉克及阿富汗待了10年之久；回国后她当上了警探，与丈夫一同抚养两个前青少年期的继子。
　　其他角色包括Ben Walker﹑Ben Baines（Zack Gilford及Duane Martin饰演，下同）﹑Patrick McKenna（Ryan McPartlin）﹑Isabel “Izzy” McKenna（Sophie Reynolds）及Joseph Vaughn（Ernie Hudson）。

　　大家一定还记得2002年斯导给大家带来的《兄弟连》（Band of brothers），国内的美剧迷也因此而迅速扩充。时隔三年，斯导带领麾下的梦工场与TNT电视网合作，再度推出西部史诗巨作《Into the west》（《西部风云》）
